We were welcomed into a community in the Palisades area of Cabin John, MD, to reconstruct a failing community pool property. What likely was the most modern facilities around 40 years ago was sorely in need of updates, and we were happy to help.
The original men’s and women’s bath houses had bathrooms, showers, and lockers that were dark, dingy, and riddled with broken and failing elements. The property also lacked a proper gathering area for folks needing snacks or lifeguards taking a break from their duties.
Structurally, we set to work — all throughout a very cold winter — to add the roof lines for increased support. We swapped out the chain link fences with newer, stronger materials that could better stand the changing seasons. We added some refreshing visual touches like cupolas to serve as more defining entry gates to the property.
We ripped out the dated fixtures and remodeled the bath houses so men and women to more comfortably change and use the restroom in a brighter, more current space. We also added a new kitchen area with concrete countertops that can stand the test of time, and convenient finishes so community members could get a burger over lunch. We even added a room where the lifeguards could chill out away from the sun.
During the coldest days on the job, we kept plugging along knowing that the final product would be opened to delighted crowds under a May sun — and the final result was even more rewarding!
